The Department of Oriental Languages was established in the year 1995, which includes Arabic, Urdu, Hindi and Malayalam languages. All the Undergraduate students of the college opt any one of the above languages as the common course of the U.G Programme. To improve the language proficiency and to enrich the literary talents of our students we have formed Language Study centre and various clubs and forums such as literary club, readers’ club. The Arabic Study Centre offers Two year Diploma in Functional Arabic, a course of NCPUL-MHRD, Govt. of India. The Department organizes Seminars, Workshops, Debates and Talks by eminent personalities in the above mentioned Languages and also conducts various activities such as Essay competition, Quiz competition, Versification etc. to enrich the fluency and accuracy of our students in different languages. The Faculties of the Department do editorial works of college magazines, jubilee souvenir etc. The Faculties of the Department have participated in various Workshops, Conferences, National, International seminars with paper presentations. They have also contributed to UGC listed Research Journals and published books on their Languages which have been selected by Kannur University in its curriculum. The Department gives emphasis on developing the linguistic talents of our students through curricular and co curricular activities.
